24. Install the one thick steel plate in the clutch assembly first.  Then a friction plate and a thin steel plate.  Continue this sequence, with a thin steel plate installed last.

25. Install the clutch pressure plate and the five spring cups through the holes in the pressure plate and down over five studs in the inner hub.

26. Measure the length of the clutch springs.  If any are less than 1.170", replace the entire set.

27. Install the springs in the cups and the slotted spring nuts on the studs.

28. Turn each nut until a slot aligns with the hole in the stud (see Figure 28) and the complete hole is visible so a cotter pin will go through.

29. Don't install cotter pins or safety wire yet.

30. Turn the engine with the magneto side facing you.

31. Remove the small seal from the center of the fifth driven gear.

32. Check both clutch push rods for wear or damage.  Replace if necessary.
