42. Remove all the transmission components, including the detent assembly. Install the shift drum and selector shaft assembly in the right case. Be sure the shift drum shims are installed properly.
43. Check the distance between the back of the selector pawl tips and the end of the shift drum (Figure 44, next page). The distance should be 0,015" to 0,080". If the distance exceeds these limits, check the selector mechanism for straightness and damage.
44. Too little clearance can be corrected with shims on the right end of the selector shaft. Use the shims used on the left end of the lay shaft. Too much clearance requires replacing the selector assembly.
45. Any transmission problem that you cannot solve should be taken to
an Ossa dealer for repair.
CYLINDER AND PISTON REPAIR
1. Clean the piston and cylinder in solvent and dry with compressed air.
2. Check the piston and cylinder carefully for any wear or damage.
3. Measure the piston from front to back at the bottom of the skirt
(see Figure 45).
4. Measure the diameter of the cylinder from front to back (see Figure 46) about an inch up from the bottom of the liner.
5. All piston sizing information is detailed later in this chapter.
If the clearances are greater than the allowable maximum, you may need
just a new piston or you may need to re-bore the cylinder.
