1. Install the gears on the main shaft in their proper order.  Be sure the lock rings are seated properly.

2. Install the gears on the lay shaft in their proper order with the lock ri n gs seated properly.

 3. The left hand gear on the lays haft -s the first idling gear, which rides on a caged needle bearing.  First install the flat spacer washer, then the needle bearing and the gear over the bearing (see Figure 32).

4. Figure 33 shows the three needle bearings used in the transmission.  Two of them measure slightly less than 10 mm in width and are used between the main shaft and the fifth driven gear. The other bearing measures 13 mm in width and is used on the lay shaft first gear. Be sure not to mix them up!
