NOTE: The removal of this bearing requires replacement of the entire bearing and dust shield, due to the manner in which it is removed.

16. To remove either outer steering race, insert a long drift into the steering head from the end opposite the race you wish to remove. Move the drift around the lip of the race, tapping it gently in several places until it is out of the steering head (Fig. 164)

NOTE: Be sure that the outer steering race is driven out of the steering head straight. If it cocks slightly sideways, it could cause distortion of the steering head.
