19. Replace the lower bearing and dust shield with new parts.

20. Remove the outer steering races by tapping gently around them with a long punch from the opposite end of the steering head (see Figure 11).  Be sure to drive it out squarely so you don't distort the inside of the steering head.

Fork Disassembly

1. Get a bolt or screw with 6 mm x 1 threads more than 3/4" long, with the end ground to a point (see Figure 12).  Grind it yourself if necessary.

2. Screw it into the fork leg oil drain hole (see Figure 13) until it touches the damper assembly pedestal inside the fork.  Turn the screw 1/2 turn more to lock the pedestal in place, so it can't turn.

3. Remove the 6mm Allen bolt from the recessed hole in the bottom of the lower fork leg.

4. Remove the fork leg from the fork tube.

5. Remove the oil seal snap rings and oil seals from the fork legs
