ENGINE DISASSEMBLY
  1. Use tool number 999-206 to hold the flywheel (see Figure 5).  Fit the tool into the two holes in the magneto flywheel and remove the flywheel nut with a 26 mm socket wrench

  2. .
  3. Use flywheel puller number 114-950-Ml for all 1970 Stiletto flywheels.  Use tool number 115-970 for all Pioneers and Plonkers from 1968 to 1972 and all 1968, 1969 and 1971 Stilettos.
  4. Screw the puller into the flywheel threads.  Be sure the center bolt of the puller is backed out so the puller can be screwed in all the way.  Don't damage the threads on the puller or flywheel.
  5. Turn the center bolt clockwise with a 12 mm wrench until the flywheel is freed from the crankshaft (see Figure 6. ).
  6. Remove the flywheel from the crankshaft.
  7. Remove the puller from the flywheel and the flywheel nut lock washer from under the puller.
  8. Use a sharp chisel and hammer to scribe a line across the edge of the magneto stator plate and one of its mounting bosses (see Figure 7).  This is for reference when reassembling the engine.
  9. Remove the three screws holding the stator to the engine case.
  10. Remove the 10 mm bolt holding the magneto wire securing strap and remove the strap.
  11. Remove the stator and put it inside the flywheel for safe storage of both.
  12. Remove the wood ruff key on the crankshaft with a screwdriver and hammer.  Tap gently to prevent damage to the key or the crankshaft.
  13. Check the wood ruff key for wear or damage.  Replace it if any is visible.
  14. Attach the key to the magneto flywheel where the magnetism is strong,to prevent it from getting lost.
  15. Remove the rubber selector shaft cover and felt washer from the right end of the selector shaft.
