DIRT CYCLE March 1973 Road test of a Yankee single (250 maybe). Was this a prototype, or did this model ever make it into production? Does anyone have more info on this bike? Dave * Dave, This bike was a prototype only. It never went into production. The engine was a 460cc single, developed by Moto Sacoche in Switzerland. The bike was campaigned for the factory by Barry Higgins, but was a little heavy, and never totally competitive. It's believed that 4 examples were built, of which 2 remain today. YankeeBob * They made 6 of them, Joe Bolgers got one of the motors. A collector in Mass. has got the rest. Karl Heisse  * This is a prototype that never went into production. It was a 460 single.Barry was the test rider for it. I first read about it in 192 in a cover article in Motorcyclist magazine. The article said it had a claimed horsepower of 70 and that 25 customers would have the first production run in April of 1973 and full production would be the following September. engine was built in Switzerland. I never heard about it again. I would love to have that prototype. Terry G. tgaribay@cablelynx.com
